Week Ending 17th October

 Acorn Class

Science: We’ve been channelling our inner inventors this week! Inspired by James Dyson and his childhood passion for creating, the children designed, made, and trailed their very own ‘vacuums’.

Maths:

Reception explored Numberland 5 and had lots of fun discovering all things five!

Year 1 worked on addition and subtraction using 10 frames.

Year 2 focused on addition to 20, using number bonds to support their learning.

Year 3 practised column addition and subtraction.

English: The class planned and organised information for their upcoming non-chronological reports on Martin Luther King Jr.

 Oak Class

English: We completed both our modelled and independent cross-curricular writing — creating information booklets on human development to share with Acorn Class.

History: To conclude our Ancient Greece topic, we took part in an exciting Greek-themed escape room! Teams used their knowledge from the term to solve clues. Not every pair managed to escape in time… and some were sadly eaten by the Minotaur!

Maths:

Year 4: Efficient strategies for subtraction.

Year 5: Measuring and calculating perimeter.

Year 6: Dividing 2-digit by 4-digit numbers using the chunking method.

Art: We painted our Ancient Greek clay pots that we made last week — adding intricate designs and patterns inspired by real Greek artefacts.

Forest Friday

This week, we read Leaf Man and created beautiful transient art using natural materials — celebrating the colours and textures of autumn.
