Week Ending 16th January

This Week at Mighty Mossy ![]()
Acorn Class:
English: The children ordered events from The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, enjoying the humorous twist on the original traditional tale.
Science: We explored different habitats, learning how animals and plants depend on each other to survive.
RE: Acorns listened to the story of the Prophet and the ants and reflected on why Muslims might believe it is important to teach children to care for all living things.
Oak Class:
English: The children created their own new characters in preparation for writing an additional chapter for The Firework Maker’s Daughter. They also crafted similes, metaphors, and “crash, bang, wallop” sentences, inspired by the story.
Science: Oaks played an interactive game to discover facts about the circulatory system — did you know that if all the blood vessels in the human body were laid end to end, they would wrap around the world twice?
History/Computing: The class explored ‘fake’ websites, learning how to spot unreliable information. They then created their own fake websites, cleverly mixing facts and nonsense from their history learning.
Forest Friday: Surrounded by nature, the children wrote their own haiku poems, using the school grounds as inspiration for calm, thoughtful writing.
