Week Ending 20th March

This Week at Mighty Mossy ![]()
Acorn Class:
Art: The children have been using everyday materials to design and create their own boats, ready for next week’s much-anticipated boat race!
Geography: Acorns carried out a “rain in a jar” experiment, helping them understand the water cycle and how rain forms when clouds become too heavy. They also linked this to their learning about the seasons.
Oak Class have had a fantastic Mega Maths Week:
Maths: Years 4–6 explored a wide range of topics including line graphs, 3D nets, and statistics, developing their problem-solving skills across the week.
Geography: The children became travel consultants, promoting the human and physical features of Tanzania, learning about its landscapes, wildlife, and culture.
Art: Oaks experimented with printing techniques, using paint, cardboard, and polystyrene to create bold designs on T-shirts inspired by the work of Esther Mahlangu.
We were visited by Chorley Council today to launch an exciting competition to design a garden for the Chorley Flower Show — we can’t wait to see the children’s creative ideas come to life!
Celebrating Eid:
Today we recognised Eid, an important Muslim celebration marking the end of Ramadan. To share in the celebration, the children enjoyed dates at playtime — traditionally one of the first foods eaten to break the fast, making it a meaningful way to learn about and respect different cultures and traditions.
Another wonderful week of creativity, curiosity, and celebration at Mighty Mossy ![]()
