Week ending 2nd May

Weekly Highlights at Mossy Lea
What a wonderful week we've had enjoying the sunshine and getting stuck into our learning—especially outdoors!
Acorn Class have loved exploring natural and human-made materials in our outdoor area, sparking curiosity and discovery all around. In English, we've been busy sequencing stories using Talk for Writing to help us compose our own brilliant sentences. Over in Science and Art, we explored cutting tougher materials like cardboard and experimented with rejoining them using PVA glue—great teamwork and creativity on display!
Oak Class have been diving deep into our cross-curricular English topic, planning diary entries based on the devastating Nepal earthquake in 2015. To get into character, we took part in a diary feature treasure hunt in the wooded area and even acted out a day of events—we can’t wait to see the powerful writing this inspires next week. In Computing, we’ve had great fun designing 3D vans using Purple Mash 2Make, and in Geography, we’ve just started learning about volcanoes—there’s been plenty of explosive enthusiasm!
Looking ahead to next week... On Thursday 8th May, we will be celebrating 80 years since VE Day. Children are invited to come dressed in red, white and blue, and we’ll be marking the occasion with a special school picnic. If you would like your child to take part and you haven’t selected a school meal for Thursday, please message Antonella via Class Dojo to let us know.
It’s been a week full of creativity, exploration, and sunshine—we’re already looking forward to the next one!
