🌟 Weekly Highlights at Might Mossy 🌟

🍃 IAcorn Class:

Maths: Year 1 explored capacity and volume, developing a practical understanding through hands-on activities.

Science: We learned about sustainability by sorting items into their correct recycling bins—a great step towards becoming eco-champions!

History: The children loved comparing the lives of Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Victoria, asking big questions and spotting key differences and similarities.

English: We enjoyed the whimsical world of AA Milne through the poem ‘The King’s Breakfast’, using it to inspire our own language choices and rhythm.

DT: Creativity took centre stage as our plans came to life—we built scale dens using sticks and leaves, blending imagination with nature.

🌋 In Oak Class:

DT: Our volcano models are erupting with progress—this week we began adding modroc to shape and bring structure to our wire frames.

English: We’ve completed our cross-curricular modelled write—an explanation text on volcanoes that brought together research, geography, and strong writing skills.

Science: Our unit finished with a local study of Wrightington—asking what our area offers from the viewpoint of different stakeholders like wildlife, families, and business owners. We also considered how we could improve our local area for everyone.

Computing: We proudly completed our packaging designs, then printed and assembled them—combining digital skills with real-world creativity.

✨ Half Term: Time to Breathe, Reflect… and Get Ready to Fly Again

And just like that—we reach the end of another half term. Not just any half term, either. One filled with growth, curiosity, resilience, and moments of brilliance that, if we’re not careful, could be too easily brushed past.

So let’s not.

Let’s pause, process, and recognise just how far the children—and we—have come.

This break is a well-earned chance to recharge. But it’s also a powerful reminder: growth isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s in the quiet confidence of a child putting their hand up for the first time, or in the way they help tidy up without being asked. It’s in the choices, the kindnesses, the small-but-mighty steps forward.

We return on Wednesday 4th June, with the final half term ahead—one that’s always packed with adventure, endings, beginnings, leavers’ farewells, suncream (we hope!), and moments we’ll remember long after the school bell rings for summer.

So rest well. Be proud. And get ready—because the next chapter is going to be brilliant. 🌈
