Week Ending 4th July

Weekly Highlights from Mighty Mossy!
Acorn Class
This week, Acorns have been diving into their topic on seaside towns, focusing on beautiful St Ives in Geography. The children created vibrant and informative posters full of interesting facts!
In Science, we explored the important topic of water waste. The children carried out a hands-on experiment to compare how much water is wasted when we leave the tap on while washing our hands, versus turning it off. An eye-opening experience for all!
In DT, we put our peeling and chopping skills to the test and assembled our very own healthy fruit salads – delicious and nutritious!
In English, we’ve been researching the country Turkey to help us write a model holiday leaflet. This will prepare us for our independent write on Blackpool next week – we can’t wait to see the finished pieces!
Oak Class
In English, Oak Class have been working hard on their independent writing, adding thoughtful and imaginative words to the wordless story Window by Jeannie Baker. The children have done an incredible job bringing the story to life with their descriptive writing!
In Science, we’ve been learning all about the eye and how light travels. The children were fascinated by using mirrors to observe how their pupils change size! We also investigated how light affects different materials and discussed the dangers of UV rays, learning how to keep themselves safe in the sun.
In Geography, we took our learning outside with a walk around the local area to explore how land use has changed over time – a fantastic way to connect our learning with the real world!
Well done to both classes for a fun-filled week of discovery and creativity!
