Weekly Highlights from Mighty Mossy! ![]()
It’s been another wonderful week of learning, exploring and creating across classes. Here’s what we’ve been busy with:
Acorn Class Highlights
Maths Magic:
Reception have been getting to know the number 8.
Year 1 have been sorting objects, shapes and numbers.
Year 2 have been confidently counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
Year 3 have been practising their 3 and 4 times tables.
Science:
We explored our five senses, naming them and discussing why they’re important.
Geography:
We’ve been learning all about our local area and the children created junk-model maps to represent their surroundings.
Computing:
The children learned about safe searching online and how to use the internet responsibly.
English:
We’ve been ordering the story we are reading, ready to innovate our own versions.
Art:
Inspired by L.S. Lowry, the children have been drawing matchstick figures, capturing movement and character beautifully.
Oak Class Highlights
Maths:
Year 4 have been multiplying using the grid method.
Year 5 have been practising division using the chunking method.
Year 6 have begun their new unit on algebra, exploring patterns and simple equations.
English:
We’ve finished reading The Roundhill by Dick King-Smith and have started planning our own innovated story versions.
Geography:
The children have been studying Ordnance Survey maps, learning to recognise a range of symbols.
Science & Computing:
Oak Class have been exploring electrical circuits, learning about inputs and outputs and how they work.
Design Technology:
Everyone has been practising their cross stitch skills—lots of focus and fantastic progress!
