Week Ending 21st November

Weekly Highlights from Mighty Mossy!

🌰 Acorn Class
English: Acorns impressed us by retelling How to Hide a Lion at School and even creating their own versions by changing the characters — such fantastic imagination on show!
Science: We explored the human life cycle up to adulthood, thinking about what we could do as babies, what we needed help with, and all the amazing things we can do now (as well as what we’re still learning!).
Computing: The children practised safe searching and learned about safety blocks and firewalls. We discussed how these might not always be in place at home and what to do if something appears online that they don’t like or shouldn’t see. We carried out searches together and experimented with more specific descriptions to see how results change.

🌳 Oak Class
English: Oaks completed their modelled write based on an innovation of The Roundhill by Dick King-Smith. Planning their independent ghost stories was a highlight — especially using huge bed sheets to jot down ideas!
Science: We became part of the circuit ourselves before investigating complete and incomplete electrical circuits using real equipment.
Geography: The class learned how to use a compass and read maps to find direction — brilliant navigation skills!

🌲 Forest Friday:
Inspired by
Moon by Britta Teckentrup, the children created beautiful artwork reflecting the calm and magic of the story.
