Week Ending 12th December
Another Fantastic Week at Mighty Mossy! ![]()
Acorn Class:
Geography: The children carried out observational geography during some exciting fieldwork around our school grounds.
Art: Inspired by L.S. Lowry, we explored tone and colour theory, experimenting with different shades and techniques.
Maths:
Year 1 practised days of the week and months of the year.
Year 2 worked on telling the time to o’clock, half past, and quarter past/to.
Year 3 explored 3D shapes.
English: We created persuasive posters on why people should join Mossy Lea - we had so may reasons to share!
Science: We learned how to look after ourselves, covering food, exercise, hygiene, sleep, and mental wellbeing.
Oak Class:
English: The children completed a modelled newspaper report based on the book Tuesday by David Wiesner and began planning their independent write inspired by The Snowman by Raymond Briggs.
Maths:
Year 4 explored properties and classification of 3D shapes.
Year 5 practised 24-hour time and reading timetables.
Year 6 worked with pie charts.
Science: Oaks investigated the dangers of electricity and how to stay safe, while also learning about the inspirational work of Nikola Tesla.
Geography: The class examined how local maps have changed since the 1800s.
Forest Friday: We got creative with a Pinecone Christmas craft, adding some festive cheer to the outdoors.
Highlight of the Week: The incredible performance of ‘Baubles’! The children were simply amazing, and we couldn’t be prouder of their talent, teamwork, and hard work.
