Week Ending 22.3.24

Acorn Class Update

Our Year One and Two schildren have been on a thrilling adventure as they polished off their "Katie in London" unit, with themselves being the main character in their story set right here in Chorley! Meanwhile, our EYFS children have been busy helping us describe enchanting settings by re-creating the beauty of Kew Gardens right in our classroom!

In science, we've been using our senses to explore the wonders of different foods, diving into investigations on taste, texture, and aroma!

And of course, it's been time to shine in Maths as we showcase our skills in measuring capacity, temperature, length, and height!

Oak Class Update

Another exciting week in Oak class!

In Science, our curious minds delved into the world of nutritional values, exploring the fat and sugar content in everyday household items. We even took a peek at the nutrition calendar on the McDonald’s website for some real-world context!

Over in Computing, alongside our young tech enthusiasts, Mrs Harrison taught us all about Micro:Bits. We used them to code our own name badges, to code a pedometer with an accelerometer (we had a race to see who could do the most steps in a minute) and we made our own games with the small computers. It was great fun playing Rock, Paper, Scissors using our own code on our own devices!

In English, we've been on an adventurous journey with "The Indian in the Cupboard", making bold predictions about the upcoming chapters. Next week, we're gearing up to bring our plans to life and embark on independent writing adventures.

And who said PE couldn't be egg-citing? This afternoon, we fused orienteering skills with an Easter egg hunt, resulting in heaps of fun and laughter.

Stay tuned for more adventures next week!
