Weekly Highlights at Mossy Lea
This week has been packed with engaging discussions and learning moments across our school!
Picture News Assembly
Our Picture News assembly sparked a brilliant conversation around online safety, focusing on the question: Should YouTube have more rules for younger users? We discussed the recent letter from the UK’s Culture Secretary, Lisa Nandy, urging platforms like YouTube and TikTok to share more educational content for children. The conversation tied into the British Value of Rule of Law—how we have rules for going online at school and at home to help keep us safe. We also explored the protected characteristic of Age, understanding how age restrictions on content help ensure everyone can safely access the internet.
Martin Luther King Day
In another assembly, we honoured Martin Luther King Jr. Day, reflecting on his vital role in the Civil Rights Movement and his belief in nonviolent activism. The children were inspired by how one person’s voice can truly make a difference in the world, leading to meaningful change.
Oak Class Science Investigation
Oak Class took part in a fascinating science investigation into the viscosity of different liquids. The children had fun flipping bottles with varying viscosities and exploring how different liquids move!
Acorn Class History
Acorn Class travelled back in time to learn about the history of computers. The children were amazed to find out that the first computers were so large they filled entire rooms!
It’s been a fantastic week of learning and inspiration across all year groups. We can’t wait to see what next week brings!
