🌟 Weekly Highlights at Mossy Lea 🌟

This week, our whole school assemblies have been focused on Children’s Mental Health Week, culminating in a fantastic Wear Your SCARF to School Day! 🧣✨ We've explored the meaning behind SCARF – Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience, and Friendship – and taken part in activities to reflect on how we demonstrate these values in our daily lives. A special highlight was singing ‘This is Me’ from The Greatest Showman together – such an uplifting moment! 🎶💛

🔍 Acorn Class Highlights:

📜 In History, we had a special visitor, Mr. Quick, who shared how communication has evolved over time. The children loved hearing about how he used to connect with family abroad before the internet and mobile phones, how he used to arrange to play with friends, and seeing his first telephone and computer! He even brought some old coins for us to explore.

🔬 In Science, we worked on classification by creating our own Venn diagrams to group animals based on different criteria. A fantastic way to apply our scientific thinking!

🍫 Oak Class Highlights:

📚🔬 In our cross-curricular unit combining English, Science, and DT, we learned about states of matter, exploring melting and freezing. To put our learning into practice, we made and decorated our own chocolate crispy cakes – delicious science in action! We then used this experience to prepare for writing our own set of instructions in English.

👏 A big thank you to all the parents and grandparents who joined us for Class Call In! It was wonderful to see so many of you in school, and the children were so proud to share their work with you. Your support means so much! 💙

We hope you all have a fantastic weekend! 🌟
